Scaffolding systems can be built for buildings of all sizes, so it’s not uncommon for workmen to be operating at heights from which any fall would be fatal. Therefore, to ensure their safety, we at PJ Slater design and install a wide range of temporary edge protection solutions. Our experience and knowledge of safe working practices at height make us the best choice for this.
Temporary edge protection is an invaluable feature that can be equipped to any scaffolding system. Once in place, it provides a barrier that prevents people from falling. It also stops tools and equipment from being knocked off, which could seriously injure someone below. You can find out a little more below or if you’d like to make enquiries, call us on 01733 234831.
Protect Your Workforce at Heights with Temporary Edge Protection
In its simplest form, edge protection prevents users or objects from falling to a lower level. Because of how broad this statement is, there are several types of edge protection available. These include:
- Counterweight Systems
- Screen Protection Systems
- Tubular Guardrail Solutions
- Mesh Barriers
- Net Barrier Systems
It’s also not uncommon for a combination of systems to be used if the design of the scaffolding necessitates it. If you’re unsure as to which system is right for your project, know that the PJ Slater team are fully trained and knowledgeable in edge protection systems as well as traditional tubing and fitting style edge protection. We’ll recommend the correct system and ensure it’s fitted in compliance with EN 13374.
What is EN 13374?
For those not in the know, EN 13374 refers to the European Standard of Temporary Edge Protection. This breaks things down into three categories: Classes A, B, and C. Class A provides protection to flat surfaces and slopes up to 10 degrees. Class B provides protection to flat surfaces and slopes up to 30 degrees. And Class C provides protection to steeply sloping surfaces up to 60 degrees.
By adhering to this standard, we ensure that all edge protection is fully compliant with the highest standards of safety and performance.
